Native American Ministries Sunday
What is Native American Ministry Sunday?
Native American Ministries Sunday is one of six church-wide Special Sundays with offerings in The United Methodist Church. This Special Sunday:
- Reminds us of the unique gifts and contributions of Native peoples
- Provides support for Native American ministries across the U.S. and within each annual conference
- Funds scholarships for Native Americans pursuing ordained or licensed ministry
Together, our offerings empower Native leaders, sustain vital ministries, and help the wider church grow in awareness and partnership with Native communities. It’s more than simply a Special Sunday - it’s a commitment to walk alongside Native communities, nurture Native leaders, and ensure the church is enriched by the voices, traditions, and gifts of Indigenous peoples.
When Do We Celebrate?
Native American Ministries Sunday is traditionally observed on the Third Sunday of Easter. Upcoming dates include:
April 19, 2026 April 11, 2027 April 30, 2028
Can’t celebrate on that date? That’s okay! Local churches are encouraged to select another Sunday that works best.
