The Seedling Legacy Grant Program continues more than a century of faithful stewardship through the former Seedling Financial Ministry. While the original program has concluded, its legacy lives on through a long-term fund dedicated to strenghting the mission and vitality of local churches across the Susquehanna Conference.
Approved by Annual Conference in 2025, the Seedling Legacy Grant Program provides grants for church buildings, renovations, and capital improvements that support the ministry and mission of local congregations.
Fall 2026 Grant Cycle
The Fall 2026 application period is September 15-October 15, 2026. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
Approximately $60,000-$65,000 is available for grants during the Fall 2026 grant cycle.
NOTE: The approximately $3 million Seedling Fund is the long-term fund that makes this grant possible - it is not the amount available for each grant cycle. Grant funding for individual cycles is determined based on the resources available for distribution while preserving the fund for continued support of churches in the years ahead.
What Is the Seedling Legacy Grant Program?
The Seedling Legacy Grant Program helps congregations invest in their facilities in ways that strengthen ministry today and position the church for faithful service in the future.
Grants may support projects such as
- Essential renovations and infrastructure improvements
- Capital improvements that strengthen or expand ministry
- Projects that help congregations better service their communities
- Strategic investments connected to a congregation's mission and ministry goals
The program is intended to support thoughtful, mission-focused investment in church property - not simply maintenance for maintenance's sake. Successful projects will demonstrate how an investment in the congregation's facilities can strengthen its ministry and community impact.

Apply for a Grant
The Fall 2026 application period is open September 15 through October 15, 2026.
Please allow sufficient time to complete the application and gather any information or documentation required by the Program Guide. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered for the Fall 2026 grant cycle.
Oversight & Stewardship
The Seedling Legacy Grant Program is overseen by the Seedling Legacy Grant Subcommittee of the Conference Council on Finance & Administration, in collaboration with the Bishop, Cabinet, Superintendents, and other Conference leadership.
This shared oversight helps ensure that the Seedling fund is stewarded responsibly and that grant investments remain aligned with the mission of the Susquehanna Conference and the ministry needs of local congregations.
The Seedling Legacy Grant Program is designed as a long-term investment in the church. By preserving the underlying fund and distributing grants from resources available for each cycle, the Conference can continue providing meaningful support to congregations for generations to come.
