YOUTH SERVICE FUND: SILENT AUCTION BASKET DONATIONS NEEDED
The Youth Service Fund (YSF) supports youth and youth ministries in their endeavors to live and grow as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. The primary fundraiser for this fund is the Young People’s Ministry Council’s annual silent auction. YPMC is collecting donations of items for the auction, such as themed gift baskets (one example would be to fill a basket with items unique to the district in which your church is located), handcrafted items, and gift certificates. Basket donations may be brought to the conference office from May 13-17 or to the YPMC Booth at the Community Arts Center on Wednesday, May 29.
If you are interested in providing a donation or for more information, connect with Pastor Carrie Granche at cgranche@susumc.org

COLLECTING ITEMS FOR MISSION CENTRAL CARE KITS
This year we are collecting items for Care Kits for Mission Central.  You are invited as a Church to collect items and have your pastor or lay delegate bring them to Annual Conference.  There will be a place in the Grand Ballroom at the Genetti to drop off donations as well as assemble kits from the collected items.
Each Supervisory Area is asked to provide items used to build the Care Kits. LEARN MORE

REJUVENATE RETREAT: MAY 3-5, 2024
Sky Lake Camp & Retreat Center is hosting a women’s retreat, May 3 – 5: “Let’s Play, Find Joy in Each Day”. Our leadership team is planning a weekend filled with “mild and wild” activities. You might hike in the woods, cozy up by the fire, experience massage therapy, experience a laughter class, spend some creative time designing earrings or pendant, make cheese from scratch, or try a watercolor painting class. You’ll set your own pace as you take time in solitude in the great outdoors or take time to join with other women for activities. You are invited to journey spiritually with vespers and Bible study lead by an experienced and respected ordained minister.   LEARN MORE & REGISTER TODAY

RETIREES: BEWARE OF MEDICARE PHISHING
Anyone over 65 will tell you that the phone calls to pick a Medicare supplemental plan start in September and continue through January. But just last week, one of our retired clergy got a call from his own insurance carrier, Wellcare, or so he thought. The scammers claimed they were following up on his recent call and they wanted to confirm some information. Suspicious, he quickly ended the call and called Wellcare directly, who confirmed that NONE of their representatives had called him. And that’s how quickly it can happen.
If you get a call you weren’t expecting, don’t give out any of your information. Ask them where they’re calling from and offer to call them back. Confirm the contact information from the company website, your insurance card, or call the Conference office. “Be shrewd as snakes and innocent as doves.” And protect your personal info.

The 2024 Session of Annual Conference will be held at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport, Pa, Thursday, May 30 – Saturday, June 1.

Registration will ONLY be open through April 22, 2024

All registration needs to be within this time-frame.
If you miss the registration deadline, you will be able to attend as a visitor to the Session of Annual Conference, but you will have no voice and no vote. This will also be your registration for clergy or laity session.

Questions may be directed to Chris Sims, Annual Conference Registrar at one of the following, email: registrar@susumc.org, phone: (717) 800-1551.

  • Native American Sunday Resources – April 14 is the designated Sunday to celebrate and support Native American Ministries within the United Methodist Church.  It is perfectly fine to celebrate on another Sunday if it works better for your  congregation.  The offering is very important because 25% goes to Educational Scholarships for Native Americans, 25% for Outreach and Ministry Grants, and 50% is designated for initiatives with and for Native American Ministries in our region. View more information and resources for Native American Sunday.
  • The First 100 Days of Cross-Racial/Cross-Cultural Ministry Webinar – For clergy serving in cross racial/cross-cultural ministries, intentionality around the first 100 days of a new ministerial appointment can make a significant difference in the long-term health, sustainability and overall effectiveness toward a clergy person’s ability to pastor across difference. Mark your calendars and join GCORR for the “First 100 days of CRCC Ministry” summer webinar series where we will explore important topics to consider during any CRCC appointment. Learn More
