Conference Relations

The Conference Relations Committee (CRC) of the Board of Ordained Ministry helps manage clergy status changes within the Susquehanna Conference. This committee serves as a key liaison between clergy and the conference, ensuring that requests for leave, retirement, administrative location, or extension ministry are handled properly and in accordance with the Book of Discipline.

Whether you are seeking a leave of absence, transitioning to retirement, or returning to active ministry, the CRC is here to guide you through the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing Relationship Changes
The CRC manages requests for clergy to move between active, leave, retirement, or other statuses.
  • Reviewing Requests
    • The committee evaluates applications for:
    • Voluntary or involuntary leaves
    • Medical leaves
    • Transitional or administrative location
    • Retirement (often with deadlines)
  • Interviews & Recommendations
The CRC conducts interviews with clergy and makes formal recommendations to the full Board of Ordained Ministry and the Bishop.

Every process is aligned with The United Methodist Church’s governing rules to ensure fairness, accountability, and transparency.
