Dear United Methodists in the Susquehanna Conference,
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Savior, and Friend.
I continue to thank God for the growing joy and hope I experienced during the recent C3 Tour. Traveling through the conference and meeting with over 750 laity and clergy allowed me to get to know you better, get a sense of the transformational work taking place through our congregations, and hear firsthand your hopes and aspirations for our shared fellowship and ministry in the months and years to come. God is doing something new—believe it!
New Director of Communications
As we continue our journey forward, I am excited to share the selection of Matthew Shineman as the new Director of Communications for the Susquehanna Conference, effective Monday, December 2, 2024. This role is vital as we continue to share the Good News, tell stories of how God works through our churches, and resource our leaders and congregations for impactful ministry in the community. Matthew joins us with a rich background in communications, ministerial leadership, strategic planning, and social justice advocacy. He dedicates his career to fostering connections and equipping organizations to live out their mission in transformative ways. He has consistently demonstrated a passion for empowering communities, uplifting diverse voices, and supporting impactful initiatives. His ability to connect people through stories of faith, hope, and justice will be an asset to our conference.
As Director of Communications, Matthew will lead the communications team in developing communication strategies that inspire connection, celebrate our shared ministry, and equip clergy and laity to share the gospel meaningfully. With his expertise in storytelling, I am confident he will help us shine a light on the vital work of United Methodists in our neighborhoods and beyond.
Matthew will be a member of the Missional Cabinet and our newly formed Executive Staff Team, which collaboratively provides strategic and operational day-to-day leadership to the Conference.
