We are excited to announce to you that we will be appointing the Reverend Doctor Kathleen E. Kind as the Director of Connectional Ministries. Her appointment will begin February 1. From February 1 until March 31, she will serve part-time as DCM and part-time as Lead Pastor at Camp Hill UMC, her current appointment. Beginning April 1, Dr. Kind will serve full time as the Director of Connectional Ministries.
Kathy is an exceptional pastor and leader. She has varied and wide experience not only in the Susquehanna Conference, but also on the General Church level. Prior to Kathy’s appointment as Lead Pastor at Camp Hill she served eight years as Conference Superintendent, Altoona District. Kathy has also very capably served churches in the Lewisburg District, Williamsport, and the former Chambersburg District.
Kathy has served on many boards and agencies within the Susquehanna Conference. Her service has included the Board of Ordained Ministry, Board of Pensions, and several District Committees of Ordained Ministry. Kathy has also taught the worship section for Licensing School for local pastors.
Kathy is currently serving as the Chair of Annual Conference Sessions. She continues to serve on the Board of Ordained Ministry as well as the Bishops’ Care Team.
Kathy was elected a delegate to General and Jurisdictional Conference in 2008, 2012, 2016 and she is currently a member of the 2020 delegation for when the next General Conference is held.
Kathy is currently serving on the General Board of Church and Society as an elected Board member. Elected to that board in 2012, she is currently the Chairperson of the Personnel Committee for GBCS.
Kathy is a graduate of Huntington College with a Bachelor of Science in educational ministries with an emphasis in youth ministry. She received her M.Div and her D.Min. from Wesley Theological Seminary. Her doctoral work was in Church Leadership Excellence.
Kathy has a passion for the local church as well as working with laity. She is also committed to always looking at the big picture for church leadership in this new era.
