A Class for Unprecedented Times - The General Conference of the United Methodist Church will be meeting in February of 2019.  The delegates will be looking at what it means for the church to be “in but not of” the culture of the 21st Century.  We can also discuss this topic in the context of the history of Christianity and our denomination.  We will also discuss the options General Conference is considering.  In addition, since February 23 is a day of preparation for the General Conference it might be possible to view some of that preparation in real time.

Participants are asked to read the two page statement found at: prior to class on Sunday.  This is the original mandate leading into General Conference 2019. A textbook will be discussed and recommended at the Sunday Session. Workbooks will be provided.

Instructor: Rev. Dr. Dianne Bentley, Pastor of the Jefferson/Greenmount Charge, will be the facilitator.  She is very excited about presenting this opportunity to you. This is an advanced class for those who need to fulfill the obligations of becoming a Lay Speaker.  It can also be used to fulfill the requirement of attending a class once every 3 years or by anyone who wants to know more about the U.M. heritage.
