CELEBRATING A SUCCESSFUL 7TH ANNUAL CONCERT OF HOPE HELD APRIL 18
Thank you, Historic Grace United Methodist Church in downtown Harrisburg. We counted 129 people at the concert all gathered to celebrate prison ministry and ministry to our returning citizens (after incarceration). We count that a great success on a Saturday afternoon for a cause too many find difficult. There were eight groups presenting outstanding displays about ministry related to Helping Our Prisoners Excel, illustrating resources churches can take advantage of in ministry.
- "This was the place I needed to be. I am going to do more!" (A Community member)
- "I really felt cared for. The choir was fantastic, wonderful harmony. The soloist was out of this world." (A work release resident)
- "Ulli Klemm's message really hit the mark." (A person in prison ministry-Rev. Ulli Klemm, Director of Chaplaincy, PA Dept. of Corrections substituted for Shirley Moore Smeal who was called away for a family funeral.)

UNITED METHODIST HOME FOR CHILDREN VICE-PRESIDENT KATHY EPPLEY STEPPING DOWN
UMHC Vice-president Kathy Eppley announced she is stepping down from her position as the home's chief development officer. During her 20 year tenure at the Children's Home, Eppley raised millions of dollars to support the home's residential care program for at-risk children. As the home's president/CEO Dan Brannen so beautifully put it, "Kathy came to us, not as someone seeking a job, but as someone seeking to make a difference in the lives of struggling young people. Her spiritual calling to champion abused and neglected kids has had a lasting impact, not only on the lives of kids, but also on the lives of all of us and the hundreds of people she has reached out to on behalf of our mission. Those of you who know Kathy know that her face is the face of kindness and commitment - two values that are so cherished and needed in our calling."
Eppley said she is looking forward to spending more time with her beloved family, friends, and Yorkshire terriers, and riding her retired racehorse. Her last day will be May 1, 2015.
There will be an open house for Kathy on Thursday, April 30, from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. in the Sarah Agnes Lodge building on UMHC's campus.
