CRITICAL NEED FOR CONSTRUCTION/PAINTING VOLUNTEERS AT WESLEY FOREST UM CAMP & RETREAT CENTER
Dear Susquehanna Conference Colleagues:
We would appreciate your help in getting the word out along with any suggestions of people to contact to volunteer to help with a critical renovation project now underway at Wesley Forest UM Camp Retreat Center in Weikert. The next three weeks will be pivotal and volunteers are essential. Unfortunately, some volunteers who were expected to work on the project have not been able to participate and there are only three weeks until the building must be ready to host groups who will be coming on retreat.
The renovations are part of a Wide Embrace of God campaign to make the White Pine Lodge accessible for person with handicapping conditions. We will need 5 volunteers each day over the next three weeks to help with a variety of tasks from construction, electricity, putting up wall board, painting, finish trim work, etc. We, also, need help with a variety of other tasks not requiring skilled labor but essential to the camp and retreat center. It will free up staff with specific skills from other duties to help with the renovations.
If you or others you know can come to help on any of the following dates, we are currently working to recruit 5 volunteers each of the days listed below. We will be working evenings, also, so those who can come after work are much appreciated too. Please, check out the following dates and let Emily Sliski, the Center Director, know if you or others can help. It is critical to complete the work by September 27.
If you can come for a single day, evening or a longer stretch, please let Emily know. Please, spread the word to others and ask them to contact Emily if they can help on a single day or any portion of the dates below, so she can schedule and coordinate volunteers.
September 10-15 (Monday-Saturday) Volunteers needed all day and/or evenings
September 17-21 (Monday-Saturday) Volunteers needed all day and/or evenings
September 24-28 (Monday-Friday) Volunteers needed all day and/or evenings
In addition to basic workers, we are in need of certified or master plumbers and electricians.

In an effort to renew and increase our United Methodist Christian witness and presence in the Harrisburg area, an initiative named Impact! Harrisburg will be undertaken this fall. Together, and assisted by a resource team of local UM laity and clergy, the ten UM churches closest to center city Harrisburg simultaneously will explore a bigger and more comprehensive vision to reach new and more people for Christ. This will be an opportunity for each church to assess their congregation's ministry potential and to unlock resources through our connection with and through one another.
We invite you to participate in and support this effort in these two ways. First, join those ten churches and UM's from neighboring congregations in adding layers of prayers to this initiative.
Second, please join us for Impact! Harrisburg's kick-off event with a city-wide worship experience with Pastor Kris Sledge and prayer walk at Camp Curtin Memorial Mitchell UMC on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 5 p.m.

People do not resolve, recover from, or "get over" grief, but they can, over time, become reconciled to their losses as they find hope, healing, and renewed meaning and purpose in their lives. Join us as we explore the mourner's six reconciliation needs and consider the compassionate response of a faith community in times of sorrow.
