CONFERENCE OFFICE AND DISCOVERY PLACE SUMMER HOURS
The Susquehanna Conference Office Summer Hours begin today, Monday, June 4, 2018.
The conference staff will be in the office during these hours each week this summer:
Monday - Thursday: 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. - noon
This is simply an adjustment of the hours to work longer hours Monday - Thursday to allow the staff to take off at noon on Fridays.
Discovery Place will continue their usual hours of 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday, but will close at noon on Fridays.
The last day of Office Summer Hours will be Friday, August 31, 2018.
Thank you for keeping this in mind when contacting the office over the summer.
SCARCITY IN ABUNDANCE: HUNGER IN THE U.S. SEMINAR
Scarcity in Abundance: Hunger in the United States will be a three-day seminar experience for any United Methodist interested in taking a deep dive into issues that intersect with and exacerbate hunger.
The seminar will be in Washington, D.C., at the United Methodist Building from Wednesday, September 5, through Friday, September 7. Those interested in attending can register here. Spots are very limited and fill up quickly.
Seminar registration includes lunch and costs $200 per person with housing (in a shared room) or $75 without housing. More details.
There is a discount available if you attend the seminar with other members of your church. Each participant will have to register separately.
GOD'S CALLING - FALL 2018 EVENT
Also, looking ahead, the tentative dates for the two God's Calling Events in 2019 are March 16 at Paxton UMC, Harrisburg, and August 10 at Lightstreet UMC, Bloomsburg.

Saint John's-Newberry United Methodist Church offers the Barnhart-Beard Memorial Scholarship to any college or post-graduate school student who is entering the ordained ministry, studying a field in Christian education, Christian counseling, music ministries, or some other field deemed acceptable by the selection committee. To be eligible, applicants must be a member of a United Methodist church within the boundaries of the Susquehanna Annual Conference. Full-time students will receive preference. In addition, applicants from Saint John's-Newberry UM Church will receive preference, followed by applicants from the Williamsport District, then the Susquehanna Conference.
Applications are available from Saint John's-Newberry United Methodist Church office (570-326-5569) or on the church's website at stjnumc.com. The deadline for applications is July 1, 2018.

UM ADVOCACY IN PA UPDATE

CROSSFLAME YOUTH CHOIR AND ORCHESTRA TO PERFORM AT CHARLTON UMC
The 60-plus member Crossflame youth choir and orchestra will be appearing in concert at Charlton UMC, Harrisburg, Tuesday, June 12, at 7 p.m. This award-winning ensemble will present a worship concert based upon the theme "Living in the Sacred Center," featuring music by Mark Miller, John Rutter, Jim Papoulis, Craig Courtney, Dan Goeller, Robert Ray, and Keith Hampton.
Crossflame, from Hickory, North Carolina, is making its 23rd consecutive summer concert tour under the direction of Ron Sinclair. Previous tour locations have included Canada, Scotland, and the eastern portion of the United States. In addition, Crossflame has appeared twice as part of a Sunday afternoon concert with an all-star cast at the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville, Tenn.
The concert is free, and the public is encouraged to attend. Charlton United Methodist Church is located at 5920 Jonestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17112.
