YOUTH SERVICE FUND - SILENT AUCTION BASKET DONATIONS NEEDED

At Annual Conference 2017, the Young People's Ministry auctioned off 25 baskets for the Youth Service Fund. The fundraiser was so successful that we caused traffic flow problems. We want to keep this solid fundraiser going but also keep things safe. We only need seven more amazing baskets donated for Annual Conference 2018. Help the Young People's Ministry meet our goal by donating a gift basket for the silent auction.

FOLLOW-UP TO RESOLUTION 4 APPROVAL AT ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2017

Resolution 4, "Consider Investing in Wespath's Equity Social Values Plus Fund," was approved at Susquehanna Annual Conference in May 2017. It asked clergy and lay employee participants and the annual conference to consider the new fund for the portion of their accounts invested in equities.

Wespath announced in December that two additional funds using the same criteria - a heightened focus on companies' environmental and social performance - are available to both participants and institutional investors.

Below is the press release from Wespath dated April 9, 2018, and found here https://www.wespath.com/pr20180407/

Fund Name Change: ESVPF Becomes SVCEF
On April 7 the name of the Equity Social Values Plus Fund changed to the Social Values Choice Equity Fund, to align with the naming convention adopted for the "Social Values Choice" suite of funds. SVCEF is one of three funds in the "Social Values Choice" suite of funds for investors with a heightened focus on companies' environmental and social performance.

SVCEF is a passively-managed equity fund that adheres to investment guidelines addressing concerns expressed in resolutions approved by a threshold number of United Methodist annual conferences dealing with:

  • Companies that derive a significant amount of revenue from the production of fossil fuels; and
  • Companies named in petitions related to peace in the Middle East

The fund strategy remains unchanged, and current investors in the fund do not need to take any action. The new fund name is automatically reflected in all account information.

Read more about the funds within the Social Values Choice Suite of Funds.
