CHILD ADVOCACY TRAINING EVENT  
 
The Susquehanna Conference Commission on Child Advocacy is offering the next advocacy training event Saturday, October 14, at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 1650 Clay Avenue, Tyrone, Pa. The church is located off of I-99 at the Tyrone exit, between Altoona and State College. The event start at 8:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast and opening plenary sessions. Following the luncheon, seminars will be offered to all participants, and information on how to begin a regional advocacy team. The event concludes at 4 p.m.

Registration material and event information will be mailed to key contact persons in each church in the State College and Altoona District churches, but the training event is open to the entire conference. On-line registration information is available on the registration form.

The training event will include a keynote address, plenary presentations, and afternoon seminars. Registrants will select their seminar preferences on-line or at the event. All materials, advocacy group start-up information, seminars, CEU credits, break snacks, and the luncheon are included in the $35 registration fee.

Continuing education certificates, .65 CEU's, are provided for full participation in the day.

 GENTLY USED WORSHIP ITEMS AVAILABLE
 
The worship team of Avis UMC reorganized some of their storage spaces, including their sacristy. They discovered some used worship items which they thought another church might be able to use.

Here is a list of the items:

  •         128 communion cups
  •         2 brass candle holders
  •         4 brass offering plates
  •         2 brass flower vases
  •         2 brass communion plates (for cups)
  •         4 wooden communion plates (for cups)
  •         1 brass communion plate

MUSIC COORDINATOR POSITION OPEN AT FAITH UMC, WOODBURY

Faith United Methodist Church, Woodbury, is seeking a music coordinator to lead the choir in the traditional service and the praise band in the contemporary service; to work with the Worship Design Team in selecting music for the Sunday morning and special services; and arrange for special music from musicians inside and outside the congregation. Candidates for the position will be growing spiritually as a disciple of Jesus; be musically gifted, knowledgeable and appreciative of various styles of music used in worship; and have communication, organizational, and leadership skills. This is a part-time paid position, approximately 10-12 hours per week; pay negotiated.
