SUSQUEHANNA CONFERENCE UN SEMINAR TO DISCUSS VIOLENCE, TERROR, AND PEACE

How should we as followers of Jesus - and United Methodists - respond to the violence we are experiencing in our communities and around the world?

What are the things that lead to peace?

An uncomfortable truth about our world is that we are surrounded by violence. Violence begets fear, and fear begets violence. Jesus famously cried over the city of Jerusalem, saying, "If only you knew on this day of all days the things that lead to peace," (Luke 19:42, CEB).

Join other sisters and brothers from the Susquehanna Conference and the United Methodist Seminar Program for three days in New York City as we learn about the connections between global and local violence, and how we can be vessels of God's peace in our communities.

See the attached flyer about the February 4-7, 2018, UN Seminar Trip sponsored by the Mission and Outreach Team of Susquehanna Conference. Cost of the trip is $395 and includes seminar, bus transportation, and shared lodging at Edison Hotel in Times Square.

The Seminar Trip is limited to 20 participants - register now.

Deadline is November 1, 2017.

SEPTEMBER 1 DEADLINE FOR HEALTH MINISTRIES GRANT APPLICATION

Is your church planning health-related activities for 2018? The Mission and Outreach Team has funds to assist with new health-related programs and with existing programs that demonstrate success. Preference will be given to projects that fulfill our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  Innovative programs that meet real community needs in connection with other local ministries and other local churches will be given high priority. Grants may be given for parish nurse related programs, including initial training for parish nurses and/or health ministries, for purchase of blood pressure apparatus and first aid kits, for printed material needed to begin a program, for expenses for a health fair, and toward the purchase of an AED and CPR/AED training up to designated amounts.

View application and policy. The deadline for 2018 funds is September 1. For more information, contact Lisa Bender at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
